Get a peek inside your refrigerator without opening the door. With LG's InstaView Door-in-Door, you just have to hit the glass panel with tinted glass and it will light up to let you quickly browse your favorite snacks and beverages. Additionally it reduces cold air loss so your food stays fresher longer.
This feature will make your guests envious. However, the InstaView feature doesn't stop with the refrigerator. There's an application that lets you remotely manage important features such as temperature, ice production and diagnostic services. You can also alter the colors of the LED lights to suit your mood or match the design of your kitchen.
However, it's still an appliance that is priced at a premium price. And we're not convinced it's worth the cost to justify the cost over a similarly capable and efficient fridge without the InstaView feature.
This is especially the case when you compare this model with the four-door LFXC24796D which retails at $4,200 and has nearly the same internal storage capacity. That same sized model without the InstaView feature would cost $3,800.
In our tests, we found that the InstaView fridge's door compartment was a little warmer than the rest of the fridge, which suggests that it's not reducing cold-air-loss but simply providing a convenient way to access the shelves inside.
We liked the clear organizer designed for egg storage (although it could also be used for other things such as yogurts). It's nice to see the 24cm LED strip that is on both the fridge as well as the freezer that glows when the InstaView doors are opened twice. This provides excellent visibility for quick item retrieval.
This model is the first of its kind to feature LG's exclusive Craft Ice System that produces stunning spheres that are ideal to chill whisky and cocktails. These cubes of ice are smaller than conventional ice and melt faster, chilling drinks more effectively without needing to water them.
